{"id":75223,"date":"2026-08-17T11:59:53","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T06:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thedailymetro.in\/index.php\/2026\/08\/17\/ahmedabads-lalit-patel-wins-three-gold-medals-at-world-powerlifting-championships-in-bangkok-two-golds-in-bodybuilding\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T11:59:53","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T06:29:53","slug":"ahmedabads-lalit-patel-wins-three-gold-medals-at-world-powerlifting-championships-in-bangkok-two-golds-in-bodybuilding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thedailymetro.in\/index.php\/2026\/08\/17\/ahmedabads-lalit-patel-wins-three-gold-medals-at-world-powerlifting-championships-in-bangkok-two-golds-in-bodybuilding\/","title":{"rendered":"Ahmedabad\u2019s Lalit Patel wins three gold medals at World Powerlifting Championships in Bangkok, two golds in bodybuilding"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], August 18: <\/strong>In a significant achievement, Ahmedabad-based athlete Lalit Patel won three gold medals at the World Raw Powerlifting Federation (WRPF) Iron World International Powerlifting Championship held in Bangkok from June 12 to 14.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Competing in the Master category as part of Team India, the 57-year-old athlete recorded a total lift of 400 kg across the squat, bench press and deadlift disciplines to secure three gold medals in powerlifting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patel also competed in bodybuilding at the championship, where he won two gold medals and earned a Pro Card.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The WRPF Iron World International Powerlifting Championship brought together athletes from several countries across different weight classes and age categories, with competitions in raw powerlifting, bench press and bodybuilding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patel\u2019s latest performance boosts his international record in strength sports. In June 2025, he won three gold medals in the squat, bench press and deadlift events at a powerlifting championship in Pattaya, Thailand. He lifted a combined 405 kg and became the first Indian powerlifting world champion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Patel is among the few Indian athletes competing successfully across both bodybuilding and powerlifting at the international level. A pure vegetarian, Patel has built his strength and fitness through disciplined training and nutrition, while competing at the international level.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Commenting on his performance, Patel said, \u201cWinning three gold medals in powerlifting and two gold medals in bodybuilding at the same championship is a very special achievement for me. I have always believed that age or dietary choices should not limit what I can achieve as an athlete. I have worked hard on my training, strength, fitness and discipline to compete at the international level.
