Pune (Maharashtra) [India], February 8: Mist LGBTQ Foundation, in collaboration with Tweet Foundation, recently organized a series of one-day workshops on Transgender Community & Rights, held from January 14-16, 2025, at Stories Cafe, Lohegaon, Pune.
The workshops, tailored for different stakeholders, aimed to promote awareness and understanding of transgender issues, rights, and laws. In the span of three days 46 media professionals, 48 medical professionals, and 44 educational institute representatives attended the workshops. Additionally, the workshops featured Guest Speaker Urmi from Tweet Foundation, along with 10 representatives from MIST LGBTQ Foundation.
Key topics covered during the workshops included understanding sex, gender, and sexuality, the history and background of the transgender community, problems faced by transgender persons, and landmark judgments and constitutional frameworks related to transgender rights. The workshops also introduced participants to ‘The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019 and Rules, 2020’.
The workshops provided a platform for participants to engage in meaningful discussions, share experiences, and learn from experts in the field. The overwhelming response and participation from various stakeholders demonstrate the growing interest and commitment to promoting inclusivity and understanding of transgender issues.
