New Delhi (India), February 20: There is no such word as a ‘Struggling artist’, says Hrohit Saboo, an independent Indie artist. ‘Each artist is a struggler in his own way, struggling to portray his / her dream into words or in his craft, struggling to present that dream to the world with an aspiration to get his work recognized.
Even with tons of success, an artist will always thrive on making his work better and following his passion’, he says.
Hrohit, a true music lover, is a multilingual singer, songwriter, composer and live performer. Born and brought up in a small town named Rishra in West Bengal, Hrohit has big dreams for the music industry. He started his journey by making covers of Bollywood Songs, mostly those of Sonu Nigam and Kishore Kumar, his big-time inspiration. His voice was loved nationally and internationally when he sang cover songs without music, which is now better known as ‘LOFI’ by next-gen music lovers. His was the only playlist on YouTube having Indian songs without music named ‘Bollywood Songs without Music’. Hrohit’s cover of ‘Teri Ankhyaan ka wo Kajal’ in nine languages went viral in the pre-reels era on Social media with more than 25 million views.
Hrohit is a Chartered Accountant by profession, which led his way to Bangalore, the Silicon City of India. Bangalore was then buzzing with a young crowd, ever ready to listen to live music. This gave him an opportunity to start his own band, ‘Aashiyaan’, which performed across the country. Hrohit has also participated in several music shows like 1MG voice hunt, Gopalan Super Singers, Voice of Bangalore and many others. He was making steady progress in his music journey when a voice echoed in his heart which said, ‘this is not enough’. It was then that he decided to do something which is more fulfilling and loved by his audience and himself – writing, composing and singing his own songs. Luck was in his favour when he got a job opportunity in Mumbai, the City of dreams.
Mumbai gave him a chance to meet some of the best musicians in the industry. Hrohit has composed about 30 Indie songs till now, of which “Wo Dost” is loved by his audience the most. It went viral in 2020 during lockdown when people were missing their loved ones. The song created nostalgia amongst millions of listeners across all music platforms.
He recently released ‘Wo Dost 2.0’ named “Teri Meri Yaari”, at his fan’s request, which he expects to be equally loved and appreciated by them.
Hrohit says he has plans to compose around 100 songs in the next 2-3 years, each song with a unique experience for his listeners. His idea is not to spend millions on a single song to make it trending but rather curate a portfolio of soulful songs which are evergreen and can be heard even 50 years from now.
He says, ‘Managing both professional career and music has been tiring at times, but it gives me a sense of satisfaction. Music is the closest thing to my heart. It is ok if my face is not known by many. When someone far across listen to my song and smiles, it gives me immense happiness, and that is what I want to continue doing forever.
